Policy dialogue workshops get under way in October

October sees the start of face to face dialogue in each province. One day workshops will bring together government, NGOs, smallholders, private sector and other role players to:
  • examine the state of extension in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors,
  • learn about key international trends in extension services,
  • discuss priorities and options for the future of extension and advisory services in South Africa.
We will report on the different sessions so that the provincial perspectives can be shared. By the end of the workshop process we should have a much clearer picture about provincial issues and challenges and how these should shape overall policy on extension in the future.

You can follow the session at Elsenberg on the 2nd October where we will be live tweeting on the hashtag #extensionZA

"Thanks for the initiative. Extension should be proactive and local context sensitive in terms of approach and facilitation. Coaching, mentoring and role modelling are critical for successful efforts."
